South Carolina to host Troy in 2021, Georgia State in 2022

By Kevin Kelley -

The South Carolina Gamecocks have added the Troy Trojans and the Georgia State Panthers to their future football schedules.

FBSchedules.com obtained copies of both game contracts from the University of South Carolina via a state Freedom of Information Act request.

South Carolina will host Troy at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia on Sept. 25, 2021. The Gamecocks will pay the Trojans a $1.4 million guarantee for the game, per a copy of the contract.

South Carolina leads the all-time series against Troy 3-0. In their most recent meeting in 2010, South Carolina defeated Troy 69-24 in Columbia.

The addition of Troy gives South Carolina three non-conference games for the 2021 season. The Gamecocks are also scheduled to host Clemson on Nov. 27 and host East Carolina on a date to be determined.

Georgia State will travel to take on South Carolina in Columbia on Sept. 3, 2022. The Panthers will receive a $1.45 million guarantee, according to a copy of the contract.

The 2022 contest will be the first-ever meeting between South Carolina and Georgia State on the gridiron.

South Carolina has now tentatively completed their non-conference schedule for the 2022 season. After opening vs. Georgia State, the Gamecocks are scheduled to host Charlotte (Sept. 24), host Wofford (Nov. 19), and travel to Clemson (Nov. 26).
