Arkansas to host Western Kentucky in 2019

The Arkansas Razorbacks have completed their 2019 non-conference football schedule with the addition of the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, it was announced on Tuesday.

Arkansas will host Western Kentucky at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville on Nov. 9, 2019. The game will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.

The addition of Western Kentucky completes Arkansas’ 2019 non-conference football schedule. Arkansas is also scheduled to host Portland State (Aug. 31), Colorado State (Sept. 14) and San Jose State (Sept. 21) that season.

The Arkansas-Western Kentucky agreement also calls for the schools to meet in men’s basketball during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.

“We are always looking for compelling match ups in our football and men’s basketball schedules, and adding the Arkansas Razorbacks is a very exciting addition for both programs,” WKU Director of Athletics Todd Stewart said. “There was a true rebirth in the atmosphere inside Diddle Arena this season. With Wisconsin and St. Mary’s scheduled to visit next year, the addition of Arkansas in 2019-20 continues the upward trajectory of our men’s basketball scheduling. The proximity of Arkansas to Bowling Green will also enable our fans to travel to Fayetteville and experience unique men’s basketball and football environments.”

In order to play at Arkansas in 2019, Western Kentucky pushed back their game at Indiana that season to Sept. 17, 2022. WKU is also slated to play at IU in 2020 and host the Hoosiers in 2021 as part of a three-game series.

In addition to the Arkansas game, Western Kentucky is also scheduled to host Central Arkansas (Aug. 31), play Louisville in Nashville (Sept. 14), and host Army (Oct. 12) during the 2019 season.
