The South Alabama Jaguars have added the LSU Tigers to their 2024 football schedule, the school announced on Wednesday.

South Alabama will travel to take on LSU at Tigers Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Sept. 28, 2024. The game will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.

South Alabama and LSU were previously scheduled to play on Nov. 19, 2016, but the contest was canceled due to Hurricane Matthew.

“It will be great to play a team that is perennially in the top 10-15 in the country, one that is an SEC power and has been among the best in the region for the longest time,” said South Alabama head coach Steve Campbell. “It also gives us an opportunity to play a big game in an area that we recruit. It’s always fun to play in those environments, that’s why you sign up to come to South Alabama, to play in big games like that.”

LSU is the third announced non-conference opponent for South Alabama for the 2024 season. The Jaguars, members of the Sun Belt Conference, are also scheduled to host the North Texas Mean Green on Aug. 31 and travel to play the Ohio Bobcats on Sept. 7.

The LSU Tigers also have three announced opponents set in 2024. LSU is slated to open the season at home on Aug. 31 against the UCLA Bruins and then host the Rice Owls the following week on Sept. 7.
