The UCF Knights have added the Florida A&M Rattlers to their 2019 football schedule, the school announced on Thursday.
UCF will host Florida A&M at Spectrum Stadium in Orlando during Week one of the 2019 season (Thursday, Aug. 29 – Saturday, Aug. 31). In their first and only meeting back in 1987, Florida A&M defeated UCF 19-14 in Tallahassee.
Florida A&M is a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Rattlers finished the 2017 season 3-7 overall and 2-5 in MEAC play.
“This is a great season opening matchup between one of the top Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) teams in UCF and a re-emerging Football Championship Subdivision contender in FAMU,” FAMU Director of Athletics John Eason, Ph.D said. “It is a ‘win-win’ for Florida’s football fans, alumni and supporters of both schools.”
The addition of Florida A&M completes UCF’s 2019 non-conference schedule. The Knights are also slated to play at Florida Atlantic on Sept. 7, host Stanford on Sept. 14, and travel to Pitt on Sept. 21.
