BYU to host North Alabama in 2020

By Kevin Kelley -

The BYU Cougars have added the North Alabama Lions to their 2020 football schedule, according to UNA’s 2018 football media guide.

BYU will host North Alabama at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah during the 2020 season. A specific date for the game was not listed.

Barring any additional changes to BYU’s 2020 schedule, the Cougars should host the Lions on either Oct. 31 or Nov. 21. Those are the only two open dates remaining for the Cougars.

North Alabama is moving up to the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) this season and will play as an Independent. UNA joins the Big South Conference beginning with the 2019 season but won’t be eligible for the league title until 2022.

The addition of North Alabama tentatively completes BYU’s football schedule for the 2020 season. The Cougars are scheduled to open the season at in-state rival Utah on Sept. 5.

Other road opponents for BYU in 2020 include Arizona State (Sept. 19), Minnesota (Sept. 26), Northern Illinois (Oct. 24), Boise State (Nov. 7), and Stanford (Nov. 28).

In addition to North Alabama, opponents slated to visit Provo in 2020 include Michigan State (Sept. 12), Utah State (Friday, Oct. 2), Missouri (Oct. 10), Houston (Oct. 17), and San Diego State (Nov. 14).

Oh my gosh, Is there a bigger cup cake scheduled than this? Big 5 Conference level team (according to most) scheduled a brand new FCS (from DII) team for a single home game. Usually BYU schedules pretty tough and they do not need to go this low into FCS for a game. N. Alabama no disrespect, you have been a very good DII school, welcome to FCS but schedule a game actually have a chance in.

Hey Tom ,when you get a chance feel free to take a look at the rest of BYU’s schedule.
