The Allstate Sugar Bowl will host the post-season bowl game that features the SEC and Big 12 champions, the two conferences announced this evening.
The game will be played at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, with the first matchup taking place on January 1, 2015.
Champions from the SEC and Big 12 will face off against one another unless one or both of them are selected to play in the four-team college football playoff. If that happens, “another deserving team from the conference(s) will be selected for the game.” Read Full Story »
Earlier this year, conference commissioners said they wanted to implement a “winning record” requirement for teams to become bowl eligible in 2014.
But after further evaluation, that requirement appears to have been tabled and 6-6 will remain the benchmark, AL.com reported yesterday.

The Valley of the Sun Bowl Foundation has reached an agreement with Buffalo Wild Wings to be the title sponsor of the Tempe, Arizona bowl game that pits the Big 12 against the Big Ten. The new name of the game is the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl.
The 2012 Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl is set for Saturday, Dec. 29 at 8:15 p.m. ET at Sun Devil Stadium. The game will be televised by ESPN and pits the no. 4 team from the Big 12 against the no. 4 or 5 team from the Big Ten. Read Full Story »
The 2012-13 College Football Bowl Schedule was officially released today by the Football Bowl Association. The FBA represents college football’s 35 postseason games and all the excitement that is the bowl season.
The bowl season kicks off on Saturday, December 15 at 1 p.m. ET with the Gildan New Mexico Bowl in Albuquerque. This years match-up will feature the Pac-12 no. 7 seed against the no. 4 or 5 team from the Mountain West.

The Atlantic Coast Conference and the Orange Bowl Committee have announced a 12-year agreement beginning after the 2014 regular season.
The agreement places the ACC Champion in the Discover Orange Bowl unless that team is chosen to play in the national semifinals by the BCS selection committee. Read Full Story »
Russell Athletic is the new title sponsor for one of the two Orlando bowl games, Russell Athletic and Florida Citrus Sports announced today.
Russell Athletic replaces Champs Sports as the title sponsor of the game. Champs Sports has been the sponsor since 2004. Prior to that, the bowl game was sponsored by Blockbuster (1990-93), Carquest (1994-97), MicronPC (1998-00) and Mazda (2002-03). Read Full Story »
The SEC is set to add the AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl as a tie-in for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. The official announcement, which could come as early as today, would give the SEC a record 10 bowl tie-ins.
The SEC would replace the Mountain West, which opted to take a spot in the Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas. The MWC made that move after BYU signed agreements to play in the 2012 Poinsettia Bowl and the 2013 Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl. Read Full Story »
The SEC and the Big 12 have announced a partnership that will pit their conference champions against each other in a New Year’s Day bowl game.
The agreement between the two conferences is for five years and begins following the 2014 football season (Jan. 1, 2015). The host site, TV partner and name of the bowl game will be announced at a later date. For now, the game has the working title “Champions Bowl.” Read Full Story »
Bowl Championship Series officials have narrowed their discussions for a college football playoff to four options, USA TODAY has reported.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are the 2012 BCS National Champions after their 21-0 win over the LSU Tigers. It was the first shutout ever in a BCS game.
