    Joe Paterno to retire at end of season

    Joe PaternoPenn State head football coach Joe Paterno will retire at the end of the 2011 season, he announced today in a statement. Penn State and former assistant Jerry Sandusky are embroiled in child sex abuse allegations.

    Paterno, nicknamed “JoePa,” has been head coach of the Nittany Lions since 1966 and is the only FBS coach to reach 400 victories. His current overall coaching record is 409-136-3. In bowl games, Paterno is 24-12-1 and has won two national championships (1982, 1986) and three Big Ten championships (1994, 2005, 2008). Read Full Story »

    Phil Fulmer To Step Down As Tennessee Volunteers Head Coach

    ESPN is reporting that Phil Fulmer will step down as the head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers effective at the end of the 2008 season. Fulmer has an overall record of 150-51 during his career at Tennessee, which began in 1992. Read Full Story »
