  • Mountain West announces Division names, Championship Game

    MWCThe Mountain West has announced their division names, Mountain and West, and also set their inaugural football championship game.

    With Boise State and San Diego opting to remain in the conference, the MWC will have a 12-team alignment beginning with the 2013 season. That number also enables them to split into two divisions and stage a championship game.

  • 2013 College Football Schedule: Teams That Need Non-Conference Games (Jan. 22 Edition)

    Western Kentucky-Arkansas StateWith the recent news that FAU and MTSU are headed to C-USA a year early, all eight Sun Belt teams need an extra non-conference game in 2013. They join Duke, Syracuse, Wake Forest, and Missouri. Teams that appear to have completed their schedules include BYU, Marshall, and Tulane.

    Four teams from the Mountain West Conference will be able to play a 13-game schedule (5 non-conference games) based on the Hawaii Exemption.

  • Navy Midshipmen post 2016 Non-Conference Football Schedule

    Navy MidshipmenThe Navy Midshipmen have posted their 2016 non-conference football schedule to their official website, which includes games against Air Force, Army, and Notre Dame.

    Navy is set to open the 2016 season at home against the Fordham Rams on Sept. 3. After playing at Air Force on Oct. 1, the Midshipmen face Notre Dame at a site to be determined on Nov. 5.

    The Florida Atlantic Owls and the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders will join Conference USA in 2013 rather than 2014.

  • 2013 Big East Football Opponents Announced

    Big EastThe Big East has set their updated home and away football opponents for the 2013 season, conference commissioner Mike Aresco announced today.

    Due to Boise State and San Diego State opting to remain in the Mountain West Conference, the Big East has scrapped their East-West divisional alignment. They will also be unable to hold a championship game in 2013.

  • Report: BYU Cougars to host Idaho State Bengals in 2013

    LaVell Edwards StadiumThe BYU Cougars will host the Idaho State Bengals in 2013, Matt Gittins of KPVI News 6 announced via Twitter.

    The game will be played on Nov. 16, 2013 at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo. It will be the fifth meeting between the two schools, but only the second since 1951. BYU leads the series 4-0.

    Middle Tennessee was slated to play at BYU on Nov. 16, but that game will likely be moved to one of three open dates on BYU’s schedule: Sept. 14, Sept. 28, or Nov. 30.

  • San Diego State to stay in Mountain West Conference

    MWCThe San Diego State Aztecs will remain in the Mountain West Conference in all sports, the MWC and SDSU jointly announced this evening.

    The Aztecs were set to join the Big East this summer, but decided to remain in the Mountain West Conference. Boise State made the same decision last month.

    “San Diego State University is pleased to be continuing as a full member of the Mountain West Conference,” said SDSU President Dr. Elliot Hirshman.

  • Report: San Diego State to remain in Mountain West

    San Diego StateSan Diego State will remain in the Mountain West Conference rather than join the Big East, ESPN has reported.

    The Aztecs could be reinstated as early as today after the presidents of the MWC cast a vote. There needs to be a 75% majority in favor in order for SDSU to remain in the conference.

    If the Aztecs do spurn the Big East, they will be the third team to leave the conference before actually playing a game.

  • Texas State to play Prairie View A&M; 2013 Schedule Update

    Texas State BobcatsThe Texas State Bobcats have added the Prairie View A&M Panthers to their 2013 football schedule, the San Marcos Daily Record reported last month.

    Texas State will host Prairie View A&M at Bobcat Stadium in San Marcos. A date for the game is to be announced.

    The game tentatively completes the non-conference schedule for the Bobcats in 2013…

    Missouri TigersMost teams have their 2013 non-conference football schedules set, but there are eight teams that still need one game: Duke, Syracuse, Wake Forest, Marshall, Tulane, BYU, Missouri, and Texas State.

    In addition, there will be four teams from the Mountain West that can play a 13-game schedule (5 non-conference games) based on the Hawaii Exemption. Under that rule, teams that play at Hawaii have the option of adding a 13th game to offset travel costs.
