    ACC and Orange Bowl announce 12-year agreement beginning after 2014 regular-season

    The Atlantic Coast Conference and the Orange Bowl Committee have announced a 12-year agreement beginning after the 2014 regular season.

    The agreement places the ACC Champion in the Discover Orange Bowl unless that team is chosen to play in the national semifinals by the BCS selection committee. Read Full Story »

    Nevada may cancel 2013 football game at Florida State

    Florida State-NevadaNevada may cancel their 2013 football game against Florida State, FSU athletic director Randy Spetman said on Thursday.

    Florida State is currently slated to host Nevada at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee on Sept. 21, 2013. The game, which has been on the schedule since 2005, would be the first ever meeting between the two schools.

    If Nevada does cancel the game, Spetman says they would owe the Seminoles $600,000. Read Full Story »

    SEC to add Independence Bowl for 2012 and 2013 Seasons

    AdvoCare V100 Independence BowlThe SEC is set to add the AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl as a tie-in for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. The official announcement, which could come as early as today, would give the SEC a record 10 bowl tie-ins.

    The SEC would replace the Mountain West, which opted to take a spot in the Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas. The MWC made that move after BYU signed agreements to play in the 2012 Poinsettia Bowl and the 2013 Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl. Read Full Story »

    Virginia, Stanford schedule 2017-18 Home-and-home Football Series

    Scott StadiumThe Virginia Cavaliers have scheduled a 2017-18 home-and-home football series with the Stanford Cardinal, Virginia’s official website indicates.

    Virginia will host the series opener at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville on Sept. 9, 2017 while the final game will be played at Stanford Stadium on Sept. 8, 2018. The 2017 game will be the first ever meeting between these two schools. Read Full Story »

    What would a Florida State Big 12 Football Schedule look like?

    Florida State-OklahomaThere’s been a lot of talk the past few days about Florida State possibly being interested in leaving the ACC for the Big 12.

    Last week, Chip Brown wrote that the Seminoles should consider a move to the Big 12 for financial reasons. Saturday FSU Board of Trustees Chairman Andy Haggard openly blasted the new ACC television deal and said “…we would be in favor of seeing what the Big 12 might have to offer.     Florida State Future Football Schedules nearly complete through 2015

    Florida StateFlorida State’s future football schedules are nearly complete through the 2015 season after the Orlando Sentinel obtained information on a few new games this afternoon.

    The Seminoles will open the 2013 season at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee against the Wofford Terriers. FSU is 3-0 all-time against Wofford, but the two schools haven’t met since 1952. Read Full Story »

    Florida State considering a move to the Big 12?

    Florida State SeminolesAre the Florida State Seminoles considering a move to the Big 12 Conference? They should be, according to Chip Brown of OrangeBloods.com.

    Yesterday, the ACC and ESPN announced an extension to their exclusive media rights package through 2026-27. Reports indicate that the revenue for football and basketball will rise from $13 million to around $17 million per school. Read Full Story »

    Rice postpones 2013 football game at Wake Forest

    Rice OwlsRice has postponed their 2013 football game at Wake Forest, MyFoxHouston.com has reported.

    The Owls were scheduled to face the Demon Deacons at BB&T Field in Winston-Salem, NC on Sept. 7, 2013. According to Rice athletics director Rick Greenspan, a new date is “being negotiated.”

    Florida State, West Virginia settle on canceled football series

    FSU-WVUFlorida State athletic director Randy Spetman announced yesterday that they have reached an agreement with West Virginia on the cancellation of their 2012-13 football series.

    West Virginia has agreed to pay Florida State $500,000 for the cancellation of the 2012 game which was to be played in Tallahassee on Sept. 8. FSU had to scramble to replace the game and ended up scheduling Savannah State. Read Full Story »

    Georgia Tech cancels 2014 & 2017 Football Games vs. BYU

    Tevin Washington (13); Roddy Jones (20)Georgia Tech has canceled their 2014 and 2017 football games against BYU, FBSchedules.com has verified through documents obtained from the Georgia Tech Athletic Association.

    Georgia Tech and BYU were scheduled to play in Atlanta on Oct. 11, 2014 and in Provo on Oct. 14, 2017 as part of a four-game, home-and-home contract signed in October 2010.

    The two schools will still play the first half of the agreement which begins on Oct. 27, 2012 at Georgia Tech. The series will now conclude on Oct. 12, 2013 at BYU. Read Full Story »

    Miami (FL), Florida Atlantic Schedule Three-Game Football Series

    Miami (FL)Florida AtlanticThe Miami Hurricanes and the Florida Atlantic Owls have scheduled a three-game football series for 2013, 2015 and 2016, the schools announced today.

    The series will kick off in 2013 when Miami hosts Florida Atlantic at Sun Life Stadium on Aug. 31. The Hurricanes will then travel to face FAU in 2015 and will host the Owls again in 2016 to conclude the series. Read Full Story »

    Top 10 2012 ACC Non-Conference Football Games

    Florida State-OklahomaACC schools usually play some good non-conference opponents. After all, many of their rivals are SEC teams. The ACC also frequently schedules teams from the Big East.

    There are several intriguing non-conference games this season and four are played at neutral site locations. Clemson and Miami are each featured twice.

    Clemson AD Phillips “absolutely” expects to play home-and-home series vs. Georgia

    DeAndre HopkinsSpeaking to 790 The Zone today, Clemson athletics director Terry Don Phillips said he “absolutely” expects the Tigers to play their future home-and-home football series against Georgia.

    Last week, it was reported that Clemson was on the verge of canceling the series which is scheduled for 2013 at Clemson and 2014 at Georgia. With the ACC moving to a nine-game conference schedule (likely in 2013), the Tigers need to cancel one non-conference game in both 2013 and 2014. Read Full Story »

    Clemson may cancel 2013-14 Football Series with Georgia

    GeorgiaClemsonClemson and Georgia are scheduled to play a home-and-home football series in 2013 and 2014. But due to expansion in the ACC, the series may have to be canceled.

    Earlier this month, it was reported that the Georgia-Clemson football series could be in jeopardy. Due to the addition of Pittsburgh and Syracuse to the ACC, likely in 2013, the conference will play a nine-game football schedule. Read Full Story »
