    Penn State-NorthwesternOn Saturday, Penn State hosts Northwestern in the Big Ten Game of the Week (12 p.m. ET, ESPN).

    This is a pivotal game for each team. Northwestern has gotten of to a great start, but holes in their defense could be their downfall. Penn State had early struggles against Ohio and Virginia, but regained their sea legs with a convincing win at Illinois last week.     Ohio State, TCU Schedule 2018-19 Home-and-home Football Series

    Ohio State-TCUThe Ohio State Buckeyes and the TCU Horned Frogs have scheduled a home-and-home football series for 2018 and 2019, both schools announced today.

    Ohio State will travel to face TCU at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Forth Worth on Sept. 15, 2018. The Buckeyes will then host the Horned Frogs at Ohio Stadium in Columbus on Sept. 21. 2019.

    The two schools have played six times, all in Columbus, but haven’t squared off since 1973. Ohio State leads the series 4-1-1. Read Full Story »

    BCS Conferences announce Oct. 13, 2012 TV Schedule

    Geno SmithThe six BCS conferences have each announced their football TV schedule for the weekend of October 13, 2012.

    Top match-ups include Alabama at Missouri, Oklahoma vs. Texas (at Dallas, TX), South Carolina at LSU, West Virginia at Texas Tech, USC at Washington, TCU at Baylor, and Texas A&M vs. Louisiana Tech (at Shreveport, LA).

    Notre Dame cancels 2015-17 Football Games vs. Michigan

    Notre Dame-MichiganThe Notre Dame Fighting Irish have canceled future football games against the Michigan Wolverines in 2015, 2016, and 2017, the AP has reported.

    Through a freedom of information request, the AP found that Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick sent a letter to Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon exercising a three-year out in their contract.

    Notre Dame and Michigan are still scheduled to meet each year through 2031, with the exception of 2018 and 2019. Their last game under the current contract is set for Sept. 6, 2014 in South Bend. Read Full Story »

    Ohio State adds Tulsa to 2016 Football Schedule

    Ohio StadiumThe Ohio State Buckeyes have added the Tulsa Golden Hurricane to their 2016 football schedule, Tulsa World has reported.

    Ohio State will host Tulsa at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, likely on either Sept. 10 or Sept. 24, 2016. Those are the only two open dates on Ohio State’s schedule, with Oct. 8 being reserved as a bye week.

    OSU athletic director Gene Smith confirmed the scheduling of the game to The Columbus Dispatch. It will be the first ever meeting between the two schools. Read Full Story »

    Illinois updates Future Non-conference Football Schedules

    Illinois Fighting IlliniThe Illinois Fighting Illini announced several additions to their future football schedules this afternoon.

    Illinois has completed their 2013 football schedule with a home game against Miami (OH) on Sept. 28, 2013. In addition, they have confirmed the earlier report that they will face Washington at Soldier Field in Chicago on Sept. 14. Read Full Story »

    Illinois to play Washington at Soldier Field in 2013

    Soldier FieldThe Illinois Fighting Illini will face the Washington Huskies at Soldier Field in Chicago, ESPNChicago.com has reported. Illinois sports information director Kent Brown confirmed the game.

    The match-up, which is set for Sept. 14, 2013, was originally scheduled to be played at Memorial Stadium in Champaign. Washington leads the overall series 5-4, but the two schools haven’t met since 1972. Read Full Story »

    Michigan State Spartans update Future Football Schedules

    Spartan StadiumMichigan State has added Wyoming to their 2014 football schedule and has also set dates for future games in their Celebrate the State football series, their 2012 media guide indicates.

    The Spartans are tentatively set to host Wyoming in East Lansing on Sept. 20, 2014. According to the media guide, Michigan State is also playing Eastern Michigan the same day.

    Penn State looking to upgrade Future Football Schedules

    Penn StateIn the wake of their four-year postseason ban and $73 million in fines, the Penn State Nittany Lions are looking to upgrade their future football schedules.

    Several options have been considered by Penn State acting athletic director Dave Joyner and head coach Bill O’Brien. Chief among those is scheduling home-and-home series or neutral site games against high profile teams.

    Penn State has also considered playing a 13th game in Hawaii and is in discussions with Wisconsin to make their annual match-up a trophy game. Read Full Story »

    Big Ten to keep Eight-Game Conference Football Schedule

    Jim DelanyCommissioner Jim Delany said at the Big Ten media days this week that the conference will keep an eight-game football schedule.

    The decision comes on the heels of the suspension of the long-term scheduling agreement between the Big Ten and Pac-12. Delany said that the Pac-12′s nine-game conference schedule and “previous non-conference commitments” made the task of matching up 24 teams across two conferences “too difficult.” Read Full Story »

    Wisconsin Badgers announce 2013 Football Schedule

    Camp Randall StadiumThe Wisconsin Badgers officially announced their 2013 football schedule today, which includes a rumored home game against the BYU Cougars.
    Wisconsin opens the 2013 season against UMass on Aug. 31, followed by a home game against Tennessee Tech on Sept. 7 and a trip to Arizona State on Sept. 14.

    BYU travels to Camp Randall Stadium on Nov. 9 to complete the non-conference portion of Wisconsin’s 2013 schedule. The two schools are also in discussions for future games. Read Full Story »

    NCAA to announce ‘Unprecedented’ Penalties against Penn State

    Penn StateThe NCAA will announce “unprecedented” penalties against Penn State as a result of the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal, according to a report by CBS News. The penalties will be announced at a news conference Monday at 9 a.m. ET.

    “I’ve never seen anything like it,” the source told CBS News correspondent Armen Keteyian.

    The NCAA said they will levy “corrective and punitive” actions against the school. That likely means the penalties will be a substantial fine in the tens of millions of dollars and actions against the football program, such as a loss of scholarships, bowl ban, TV ban, etc. Read Full Story »

    Report: BYU, Wisconsin agree to Home-and-home Football Series

    Camp Randall StadiumBYU and Wisconsin have finalized a home-and-home football series, according to a report today by Tom Mulhern of the Wisconsin State Journal.

    Wisconsin would host BYU at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison in 2013. The Badgers would then return the trip to LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo on a date to be announced.

    BYU and Wisconsin have been rumored to be in discussions for a series for some time now.  Read Full Story »
