    Memphis Tigers announce Future Non-Conference Football Opponents

    Memphis TigersThe Memphis Tigers have announced their future non-conference football opponents, which features a new home-and-home series vs. UCLA.

    Memphis will travel to face UCLA at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles on Sept. 6, 2014. The Bruins will return the game by playing at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium on Sept. 16, 2017. The 2014 game will be the first ever meeting between the two schools. Read Full Story »

    Southern Miss adds Texas State to 2013 Football Schedule

    Southern Miss Golden EaglesThe Southern Miss Golden Eagles have added the Texas State Bobcats to their 2013 football schedule, the Hattiesburg American has reported.

    Southern Miss will host Texas State at M.M. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg to open the season on Aug. 31. The game will be the first ever meeting between the two schools. Read Full Story »

    Southern Miss moves 2013 Nebraska game to Lincoln, will get $2.1 million

    Nebraska-Southern MissSouthern Miss and Nebraska have been going back and forth over where to play their 2013 contest, which was originally slated for Hattiesburg on Sept. 7.

    First the game was rumored to be played at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, and then later Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City was mentioned.

    A third possibility was having the Cornhuskers host the game in Lincoln, according to Nebraska AD Tom Osborne. Read Full Story »

    Florida Atlantic, Middle Tennessee to join Conference USA

    C-USA 2014The Florida Atlantic Owls and the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders will join Conference USA in 2014, multiple sources have reported.

    Harry Minium broke the news this morning that Middle Tennessee was the first school to accept an offer to join Conference USA. Later in the day, ESPN confirmed the news and then reported that Florida Atlantic would also move to C-USA. The Sun-Sentinel has also confirmed FAU’s move. Read Full Story »

    Louisiana Tech to open 2013 football season at NC State

    NC StateThe Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will open the 2013 football season at the NC State Wolfpack, the Shreveport Times has reported.

    The game will be played at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, likely on Aug. 31. An exact date was not specified, but NC State athletic director Debbie Yow stated that they “…will be opening with Louisiana Tech, a Top 20 team.”

    North Carolina State and Louisiana Tech have never met on the football field. Read Full Story »

    East Carolina, Tulane to join Big East Conference in 2014

    Big EastThe East Carolina Pirates and the Tulane Green Wave will join the Big East Conference in 2014, it was announced today.

    East Carolina will join the Big East in football only. The Pirates, members of Conference USA since 1997, announced their decision at a news conference this evening.

    “ECU is excited to become a football member of the BIG EAST Conference,” ECU Chancellor Steve Ballard said. “We know we will be successful and add value to the BIG EAST. While hundreds of dedicated Pirates have contributed to this day, I especially want to recognize the relentless energy of Terry Holland and Nick Floyd in making this day a reality.     Rice, New Mexico State schedule 2013-14 Home-and-home Football Series

    NMSU-RiceThe Rice Owls and the New Mexico State Aggies have scheduled a 2013-14 home-and-home football series, The Houston Chronicle has reported via Twitter. The two schools have never met in football.

    In the first game of the series, Rice will travel to face New Mexico State at Aggie Memorial Stadium on Oct. 19, 2013. The second and final game of the series will be played at Rice Stadium in Houston on Sept. 6, 2014. Read Full Story »

    Florida Atlantic, Tulsa schedule 2014-15 Home-and-home Football Series

    FAU-TulsaThe Florida Atlantic Owls will face the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in a 2014-15 home-and-home football series, FAU announced today.

    FAU will host the first game of the series at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton in 2014. The second and final game will be hosted by the Golden Hurricane at Skelly Field at H.A. Chapman Stadium in 2015. The two schools have never met in football. Read Full Story »

    Bowling Green adds Kansas State & Memphis to Future Football Schedules

    Bowling Green (2010)The Bowling Green Falcons have added a game against Kansas State and a home-and-home series against Memphis to their future football schedules, their official website indicates.

    Bowling Green will travel to face Kansas State at Bill Snyder Family Football Stadium in Manhattan on Sept. 7, 2019. In their first and only meeting back in 1997, Kansas State crushed Bowling Green 58-0.

    The Falcons have also scheduled a home-and-home series with the Memphis Tigers.  Read Full Story »

    Old Dominion to open 2013 season at East Carolina

    Old DominionThe Old Dominion Monarchs will open the 2013 football season at East Carolina, The Virginian-Pilot has reported.

    Old Dominion will travel to face East Carolina at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium in Greenville, NC on August 31, 2013. The game will be the eighth meeting between the two schools but first since 1940. The overall series is tied 3-3-1.

    In order to schedule this game, ODU negotiated a three-way deal with The Citadel and ECU. Read Full Story »

    Miami (FL) cancels 2014-15 Home-and-home Series vs. Memphis

    Miami HurricanesThe Miami Hurricanes have canceled a 2014-15 home-and-home football series against the Memphis Tigers, The Miami Herald has reported.

    The two schools were scheduled to meet at Sun Life Stadium in Miami on Sept. 13, 2014 and then at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis on Sept. 26, 2015.

    Miami and Memphis first agreed to the series back in May 2010. Read Full Story »

    UAB Blazers finalize 2013 Non-Conference Football Schedule

    UAB BlazersThe UAB Blazers have finalized their 2013 non-conference football schedule, the school announced on Friday.

    UAB will open the 2013 season at in-state foe Troy on Aug. 31. The Blazers lost to the Trojans last month 39-29 and trail 6-4 in the overall series.

    The following week (Sept. 7), UAB heads to Baton Rouge to take on the LSU Tigers. Read Full Story »

    Maryland, North Carolina add Old Dominion to 2013 Football Schedules

    Old DominionMaryland and North Carolina have each added the Old Dominion Monarchs to their 2013 football schedules, ODU has confirmed in separate releases.

    Old Dominion will travel to face the Maryland Terrapins on Sept. 7, 2013 and North Carolina Tar Heels on Oct 12, 2013.

    The Monarchs have never played a team that was in the Football Bowl Subdivision at the time of the contest. In the past, ODU has faced East Carolina, Miami (FL), and UMass, but all three schools were in a lower division at the time. Read Full Story »

    Charlotte, Temple Schedule 2015-16 Home-and-home Football Series

    McColl-Richardson FieldThe Charlotte 49ers and the Temple Owls have scheduled a 2015-16 home-and-home football series, Charlotte has announced.

    Charlotte will host the first game of the series at McColl-Richardson Field on Oct. 3, 2015. The 49ers will then travel to face the Owls at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Sept. 24, 2016.

    “It’s huge for our program to have a BIG EAST team play a home-and-home series,” said 49ers head coach Brad Lambert. “Thanks to our relationship with Temple through the Atlantic 10 we were able to get this scheduled.” Read Full Story »

    East Carolina, Virginia Tech extend Football Series through 2020

    East Carolina-Virginia TechEast Carolina and Virginia Tech have extended their football series through the 2020 season, both schools announced today.

    The Pirates and Hokies will renew their series on Sept. 14, 2013 at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium in Greenville. Games in 2015, 2017, and 2019 will also be played in Greenville, while the 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2020 meetings will be played at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg. Read Full Story »
