    UCF Knights issued one-year postseason ban

    UCF KnightsThe UCF Knights have been issued a one-year postseason ban for major recruiting violations uncovered in football and basketball last year.

    Central Florida was also cited for lack of institutional control, fined $50,000 and placed on 5-years probation, among other penalties.
    UCF President John Hitt said the school planned to accept all of the penalties, but after talking with head coach George O’Leary, the Knights will likely appeal the postseason ban in football. Read Full Story »

    Memphis, Ole Miss schedule 4-game Home-and-home Football Series for 2014-17

    Memphis-Ole MissMemphis and Ole Miss have officially announced that they will renew their rivalry with a four-game, home-and-home football series beginning in 2014.

    Memphis will travel to face Ole Miss at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford on Sept. 27, 2014 and Sept. 10, 2016. The Tigers will host the Rebels at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium on Oct. 17, 2015 and Sept. 30, 2017. Read Full Story »

    Report: Memphis, Ole Miss to play 4-game Football Series beginning in 2014

    Memphis-Ole MissMemphis and Ole Miss will play a four-game, home-and-home football series beginning in 2014, the Commercial Appeal has reported.

    The two schools previously had a verbal agreement to play home-and-home in 2016 and 2017. This new agreement, according to Memphis athletic director Tom Bowen, will begin in 2014.

    “I enjoy working with the administration there,” Bowen said. “I have a long relationship with (Ole Miss athletic director) Ross (Bjork). I’ve known him a long time.” Read Full Story »

    C-USA likely to play an 8-game Conference Football Schedule

    Conference USAWith Conference USA set to have 12 members next season and 14 by 2015, they will likely play an 8-game conference schedule, C-USA commissioner Britton Banowsky told the Charlotte Observer.

    Conference USA currently has 12 football members, but Houston, Memphis, SMU, and UCF are leaving for the Big East in 2013. C-USA will add Florida International, Louisiana Tech, North Texas, and UTSA which will keep their overall number at 12 for the 2013 and 2014 seasons. Read Full Story »

    Conference USA announces 2012 Football TV Schedule

    Conference USAThe 2012 Conference USA Football TV Schedule has been announced and features 60 regular-season games, the C-USA Championship Game and six bowl games.

    The first C-USA team in action in 2012 is Rice. The Owls will host the UCLA Bruins of the Pac-12 on Thursday, Aug. 30 at 7:30 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network. Read Full Story »

    Southern Miss to play at Arkansas in 2013

    Southern Miss Golden EaglesThe Southern Miss Golden Eagles will play at the Arkansas Razorbacks in 2013, USM announced today.

    Old Dominion Monarchs to join Conference USA in 2015

    Old Dominion joins C-USAThe Old Dominion Monarchs have accepted an invitation to join Conference USA, the school announced this afternoon.

    Old Dominion is the sixth program this year to announce a move to Conference USA. They join Charlotte, Florida International, Louisiana Tech, North Texas and UTSA, who each announced their decisions earlier this month.

    ODU will join C-USA in football in 2015 while all other sports will join for the 2013-14 season. Read Full Story »

    Appalachian State in talks to join Conference USA

    Appalachian StateThe Appalachian State Mountaineers are in talks to join Conference USA, ASU Director of Athletics Charlie Cobb has confirmed.

    Appalachian State has been a member of the Southern Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision since 1971. There they have won three national championships (2005-07) and won or shared the Southern Conference championship 11 times. Read Full Story »

    Navy cancels 2014 football game at Rice

    Navy MidshipmenNavy has eliminated another game from their future football schedules. This time it’s a 2014 game against the Rice Owls.

    Rice was slated to host Navy at Rice Stadium in Houston on Sept. 13, 2014. The game would have been the 12th overall meeting in a series that is tied at six games each. Read Full Story »

    Rice postpones 2013 football game at Wake Forest

    Rice OwlsRice has postponed their 2013 football game at Wake Forest, MyFoxHouston.com has reported.

    The Owls were scheduled to face the Demon Deacons at BB&T Field in Winston-Salem, NC on Sept. 7, 2013. According to Rice athletics director Rick Greenspan, a new date is “being negotiated.”

    Conference USA adds five schools for 2013

    C-USA 2013 AdditionsConference USA announced today that they are adding five schools for the 2013 season. Joining C-USA are Charlotte, Florida International, Louisiana Tech, North Texas and UTSA.

    Florida International and North Texas are moving from the Sun Belt while Louisiana Tech and UTSA are coming from the WAC. Charlotte, which begins their football program in 2013, will move up from the Football Championship Subdivision. Read Full Story »

    Georgia State to host Charlotte in 2015

    Georgia State PanthersThe Georgia State Panthers will host Charlotte in 2015 and have had discussions for games against two FBS schools, the AJC has reported.

    Georgia State will host the Charlotte 49ers at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on Sept. 3, 2015. The two schools are also discussing a game in 2016, but a contract has yet to be finalized. Read Full Story »
