The Big East has officially announced the addition of the Memphis Tigers to the conference in all sports. The Tigers will begin competition in the Big East in 2013.
The addition of Memphis brings the total number of football-playing schools in the Big East to 12. That number will be accomplished by 2015 after Navy joins, following Boise State, Houston, San Diego State, SMU and UCF in 2013.

The Memphis Tigers are likely to join the Big East Conference in 2013, CBSSports.com’s Brett McMurphy has reported.
Memphis would join the Big East in all sports. The Tigers have been a member of Conference USA since 1996.
The Big East is losing West Virginia to the Big 12, a move that will likely happen this year.

The Navy Midshipmen will join the Big East for football in 2015, CBSSports.com has reported. Navy is expected to officially announce the move on Tuesday.
This will be Navy’s first ever foray into a football conference. The Midshipmen have competed as an Independent since they began playing football in 1879.
With the addition of Navy in 2015, the Big East will have 11 football members.

The Big East has officially announced that Boise State, Houston, San Diego State, SMU and UCF will join the conference in 2013.
The addition of these five schools gives the Big East a total of ten football schools. Boise State and San Diego State will be football-only members, while Houston, SMU and UCF will join in all sports.

Boise State, Houston, San Diego State, SMU and UCF are set to join the Big East Conference in 2013, Brett McMurphy of CBSSports.com has reported.
McMurphy also reported that Navy will join the Big East as soon as the other five schools are official. That would give the conference 11 football members. He also stated that they hope to add Air Force as their 12th school with Temple as a backup plan.

The BYU Cougars have been invited to join the Big East Conference, Deseret News has reported. BYU would join the Big East in football only.
Jim Williams of the Washington Examiner told the Deseret News that his sources indicate “an invitation has been extended and that BYU officials are in favor of a move to the Big East.”

With the addition of Missouri and Texas A&M to the SEC in 2012, there is a possibility that the conference will move to a nine-game conference schedule in the future. But could it be as soon as the 2012 season?
South Carolina President Harris Pastides thinks so. On Sunday, Pastides told the Daily Gamecock that the SEC will play nine conference football games each year. That means each SEC team would play six games from their division, one permanent crossover game and two rotating games from the opposite division.

The SEC has announced that they have accepted the Missouri Tigers as their 14th member effective July 1, 2012.
Missouri is the second school to be added to the Southeastern Conference this year. Texas A&M accepted an invitation to join in September.

The Pittsburgh Panthers and the UCF Knights have cancelled their 2012 football game, The Orlando Sentinel has reported.
UCF was scheduled to travel to Pittsburgh on September 8, 2012. Due to realignment, the Panthers asked to cancel the agreement and the Knights agreed.

The West Virginia Mountaineers have applied to and been accepted to join the Big 12 Conference, The Charleston Daily Mail has reported.
An official announcement from the Big 12 has not been released. West Virginia would replace the Missouri Tigers, who are expected to leave for the SEC.
