The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders and the BYU Cougars have signed a home-and-home football series for 2013 and 2014, The Tennessean has reported.
Middle Tennessee will travel to face BYU at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo in 2013. The game will be the first ever meeting between the two schools. The Blue Raiders will then host the Cougars at Johnny “Red” Floyd Stadium in Murfreesboro in 2014.Read Full Story »
Notre Dame and UConn could play a 2014 football game at Fenway Park in Boston, The Day has reported.
The game would be considered a home game for the Fighting Irish, who recently announced they would stay independent in football but play five ACC games per season.
Back in March, Boston Red Sox executives indicated that they were pursuing a high-profile college football game for Fenway Park. On Wednesday, Notre Dame announced that they are joining the ACC in all sports except football, where the Irish will remain independent.
In order to exit the Big East, the Fighting Irish must pay the conference a $5 million exit fee and provide 27 months notice. That means Notre Dame would join the ACC for the 2015 season. However, they could negotiate an earlier exit similar to what Pittsburgh and Syracuse did earlier this year.Read Full Story »
New Mexico State athletic director Dr. McKinley Boston confirmed to fans and supporters in a letter Wednesday that the Aggies will play as an FBS Independent beginning in 2013.
In his letter, Boston wrote the following regarding NMSU’s FBS status:
NMSU is committed to continuing at the Division 1 level and we are committed to our football program. Our focus is to win WAC championships and to be the best mid-major program we can be. Looking ahead, we are planning to play as an independent football program in 2013. Nine of 12 football games have already been scheduled with at least five of those games to be played at home. The entire 2013 football schedule should be available in mid-October. Even though our football program will be independent in 2013, NMSU will remain a WAC member in all other sports.Read Full Story »

The Navy Midshipmen have added Texas State and VMI to their 2014 football schedule, their 2012 media guide indicates.
Navy will travel to face Texas State at Bobcat Stadium in San Marcos on Sept. 13, 2014. This will be the second game of a home-and-home series that begins this season in Annapolis. The series was originally slated to conclude on Sept. 19, 2015, but the game was moved up one year due to Navy joining the Big East in 2015.Read Full Story »
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have released their 2013 football schedule. All of their 2013 opponents were previously announced, but they have now posted the official schedule to their website.
There has been one date change on the schedule. Notre Dame has pushed back their home date against BYU one week and will now host the Cougars on Nov. 23.
That makes Notre Dame’s second off week Nov. 16, which falls between their trip to Pittsburgh and their home game against BYU.Read Full Story »
BYU and Wisconsin have finalized a home-and-home football series, according to a report today by Tom Mulhern of the Wisconsin State Journal.
Wisconsin would host BYU at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison in 2013. The Badgers would then return the trip to LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo on a date to be announced.
BYU and Wisconsin have been rumored to be in discussions for a series for some time now.Read Full Story »
Navy and South Alabama have mutually agreed to cancel their football games in 2015 and 2016, USA assistant athletic director Haven Fields confirmed today.
The Midshipmen and the Jaguars agreed to a four-game, home-and-home football series back in 2008, with games slated each season from 2013 through 2016.
Dates of the contests that have been canceled are Nov. 14, 2015 at Navy and Nov. 12, 2016 at South Alabama.Read Full Story »
At a media luncheon today, Utah athletics director Chris Hill told reporters that the Utes will face BYU in Provo in 2013 and in Salt Lake City in 2016.
The two schools have played every year since 1946, but the future of the series has been in jeopardy ever since Utah joined the Pac-12.

The 2013 BYU at Hawaii football game has changed dates again. The Cougars will now travel to face the Warriors on December 7.
The December 7 date, which is currently listed on Hawaii’s website, was confirmed by UH Director of Media Relations Derek Inouchi. Washington was previously slated to visit Honolulu on that date, but the game was moved to the 2014 season.

Notre Dame is reportedly close to moving their Olympic sports to the Big 12 and, as part of the agreement, could eventually schedule up to six football games per season against Big 12 teams.
Sources told Chip Brown of OrangeBloods.com that Notre Dame would likely play “three or so” football games against the Big 12 to start with before eventually adding more.
This doesn’t mean that Notre Dame is joining the Big 12 in football, only creating a scheduling agreement similar to what they currently have with the Big East.Read Full Story »
The Navy Midshipmen have posted a tentative 2015 non-conference football schedule to their official website that includes games against Air Force, Army, Hawaii and Notre Dame.
Navy is set to join the Big East in 2015 and is in the process of paring down their future non-conference football schedules. As an FBS Independent, the Middies had 12 and sometimes 13 individual games to schedule each season.
