The Hawaii Exemption, as it’s commonly known, is a rule enacted by the NCAA that allows Division I football teams that play at Hawaii to schedule a 13th regular-season game. The rule also allows the Warriors to play an extra game each season.

Nevada may cancel their 2013 football game against Florida State, FSU athletic director Randy Spetman said on Thursday.
Florida State is currently slated to host Nevada at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee on Sept. 21, 2013. The game, which has been on the schedule since 2005, would be the first ever meeting between the two schools.

The Mountain West announced today that San Jose State and Utah State have accepted invitations to join the conference on July 1, 2013.

When Navy announced they were joining the Big East in 2015, it was evident that they would have to ditch several non-conference games. That process has begun as a four-game football series with UNLV has been canceled.

After months of discussions and legal wrangling, it appears “unlikely” that Conference USA and the Mountain West Conference will merge, sources told Brett McMurphy of CBSSports.com.
“There is not much talk about a formal merger of the conferences into one conference entity in the near term, but that is still a future consideration,” a source said.

The two conferences announced in October that they planned to merge into one conference. Then last month they announced plans to dissolve both conferences and create a new one for legal reasons. The 2012 Mountain West Conference (MWC) football schedules were released today. Conference play begins on Saturday, Sept. 22 with Air Force at UNLV and Nevada at Hawaii.
