The BYU Cougars have announced that they will leave the Mountain West for the 2011-12 season and become an independent in football, while joining the WCC for other sports.

The Utah State Aggies announced today that they have signed a four-game home-and-home series with the Wyoming Cowboys.
The series will begin on October 8, 2011 when Utah State hosts Wyoming at Romney Stadium in Logan. Utah State will then visit War Memorial Stadium in Laramie on September 13, 2014. Read Full Story »
The BYU Cougars and Texas Longhorns have agreed to a home-and-home football series, the schools have announced. The series will kickoff in 2013 with a game in Provo, followed by the finale in 2014 with a game in Austin.
With the addition of this series the Cougars and Longhorns are scheduled to meet three times over the next five years, with the first meeting coming on September 10, 2011 at Texas. Read Full Story »
After news came that BYU was planning to become an independent in football and join the WAC for all other sports, the Mountain West made a move by inviting WAC members Fresno State and Nevada to join in 2011.
Fresno State will have to pay a $5 million buyout to the WAC for leaving, under the terms reached after Boise State planned to leave. Read Full Story »

The Kansas State Wildcats and Oregon Ducks home-and-home football series in 2011-12 has been canceled, RegisterGuard.com has reported.

The Big 12, Mountain West and WAC future football schedules have been updated. Updates reflect the recent conference changes by Boise State, Colorado, Nebraska and Utah.
Boise State is heading to the Mountain West in July of 2011. From 2011 forward, their WAC opponents have been removed from their schedules, and Boise State has been removed from all of the WAC future schedules. The Utah Utes will accept an invitation to join the Pac-10 on Thursday, various sources have reported.
