    SEC, Big 12 Champions to meet in New Year’s Day Bowl Game

    Big-12, SEC create bowl gameThe SEC and the Big 12 have announced a partnership that will pit their conference champions against each other in a New Year’s Day bowl game.

    The agreement between the two conferences is for five years and begins following the 2014 football season (Jan. 1, 2015). The host site, TV partner and name of the bowl game will be announced at a later date. For now, the game has the working title “Champions Bowl.” Read Full Story »

    Alabama to face West Virginia in 2014 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game

    Chick-fil-A Kickoff GameThe Alabama Crimson Tide will face the West Virginia Mountaineers in the second game of the 2014 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, Chick-fil-A officials announced this afternoon.

    Alabama and West Virginia will meet at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2014. The game will be the first ever meeting between the two schools.

    Alabama likely to face West Virginia in 2014 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game

    Nick SabanSpeaking at a Crimson Caravan event, Alabama head coach Nick Saban said the Crimson Tide will face West Virginia to open the 2014 season in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game.

    Alabama has been scheduled to play in the 2014 season-opener for some time, but has been searching for an opponent. If the game comes to fruition, it would be the first ever meeting between the two schools. Read Full Story »

    Arkansas State to play at Auburn in 2013

    Arkansas State at Auburn (2010)The Arkansas State Red Wolves will play at the Auburn Tigers in 2013, ASU announced today.

    Arkansas State will travel to Jordan Hare Stadium on Sept. 7, 2013. It will be the third meeting between these two schools in the last seven years. Auburn leads the series 2-0 after wins in 2006 (27-0) and 2010 (52-26).

    Auburn will pay ASU $1.1 million for the game, which is the largest payment ever received by the Red Wolves. Read Full Story »

    Arkansas-Texas A&M on campus 2012-13; could return to Arlington in 2014

    Arkansas-Texas A&MThe Arkansas-Texas A&M series is now officially set for campus sites in 2012 and 2013 and could return to Cowboys Stadium in Arlington in 2014.

    The two schools will meet at Kyle Field in College Station on Sept. 29, 2012 and at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville on Sept. 28, 2013.

    Arkansas and Texas A&M first played at Cowboys Stadium in 2009 in a series that was dubbed the “Southwest Classic.”  Read Full Story »

    LSU at Arkansas set for Friday, Nov. 23 on CBS

    Tyrann Mathieu (7)The 2012 LSU at Arkansas football game has been set for Friday, Nov. 23 in Fayetteville, CBS and the SEC announced today. The game will kickoff at 2:30 p.m. ET and will be televised by CBS.

    This years game will be only the second time that the two schools have met in Fayetteville. The only other time was back in 1992, Arkansas’ first year in the SEC. The Razorbacks defeated the Tigers 30-6. Read Full Story »

    Rice to open 2013 football season at Texas A&M

    Ole Miss Rebels announce Future Football Games

    Ole MissThe Ole Miss Rebels officially announced dates for seven future football games this afternoon, including games against Idaho, New Mexico State, Troy, and UL Lafayette.

    Ole Miss opens the 2013 season at home against Idaho on Aug. 31, followed by a visit from Southeast Missouri State on Sept. 17. The Rebels then travel to face the Texas Longhorns on Sept. 14 before hosting Troy on Nov. 16. Read Full Story »

    Kentucky at Louisville moved to Sunday on ESPN

    LouisvilleKentuckyThe 2012 Kentucky at Louisville game has been moved to Sunday, Sept. 2 and will be televised by ESPN at 3:30 p.m. ET, both schools announced today.

    The game will be played at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium and is the season-opener for both schools. This will be the seventh time that the Kentucky-Louisville game has been played on a Sunday. Read Full Story »

    Clemson AD Phillips “absolutely” expects to play home-and-home series vs. Georgia

    DeAndre HopkinsSpeaking to 790 The Zone today, Clemson athletics director Terry Don Phillips said he “absolutely” expects the Tigers to play their future home-and-home football series against Georgia.

    Last week, it was reported that Clemson was on the verge of canceling the series which is scheduled for 2013 at Clemson and 2014 at Georgia. With the ACC moving to a nine-game conference schedule (likely in 2013), the Tigers need to cancel one non-conference game in both 2013 and 2014. Read Full Story »

    Clemson may cancel 2013-14 Football Series with Georgia

    GeorgiaClemsonClemson and Georgia are scheduled to play a home-and-home football series in 2013 and 2014. But due to expansion in the ACC, the series may have to be canceled.

    Earlier this month, it was reported that the Georgia-Clemson football series could be in jeopardy. Due to the addition of Pittsburgh and Syracuse to the ACC, likely in 2013, the conference will play a nine-game football schedule. Read Full Story »

    SEC hopes to have Future Football Schedule set by late-May

    SECSEC commissioner Mike Slive hopes to have the future football schedule for the conference set by late-May, he told the Memphis Commercial-Appeal.

    Slive and the 14 SEC athletic directors discussed the issue earlier this month in Nashville at the women’s basketball tournament and then the following week in New Orleans at the men’s tournament. Read Full Story »

    LSU, Tulane could meet at Superdome in 2013

    TulaneLSUThe LSU Tigers and the Tulane Green Wave are in discussions for a possible game at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in 2013, The Times Picayune has reported.

    The game could be the season opener for both schools, although details are still being worked out. The two schools, separated by only about 80 miles, haven’t met since a 42-0 LSU win in 2009. The Tigers lead the overall series 69-22-7. Read Full Story »

    Arkansas-Missouri, South Carolina-Texas A&M to become permanent SEC Rivals?

    SECAlthough the SEC hasn’t made an official announcement, it appears that Arkansas-Missouri and South Carolina-Texas A&M will become permanent cross-division rivals in football.

    South Carolina president Harris Pastides told ABC Columbia that Texas A&M is their “likely” option for a permanent cross-division rival.
