    Clear Your Schedule – SEC, Week 7

    Steve SpurrierA week after two top-ten battles, Vanderbilt’s first SEC victory, and losses by the two divisional cellar dwellers to push them both to 0-3 in the conference, the SEC (except for Georgia) returns to play this weekend with some great — and not so great — match-ups.

    Georgia State to visit Alabama in 2013, Oregon in 2015

    Georgia State PanthersGeorgia State has added two more games to their future football schedules, the school announced this afternoon. The Panthers will travel to Alabama in 2013 and Oregon in 2015.

    Alabama will welcome Georgia State to Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa on Oct. 5, 2013. The Crimson Tide will pay the Panthers a $700,000 guarantee.

    The game will be the second meeting between the two schools. GSU played at Alabama in their inaugural season back in 2010 and fell to the Tide 63-7. Read Full Story »

    Clear Your Schedule – SEC, Week 6

    Georgia-South CarolinaThe two new SEC schools (Texas A&M and Missouri) get to play new conference opponents for the first time this week, as Missouri hosts Vanderbilt and Texas A&M goes to Oxford to take on the Ole Miss Rebels. The great match-ups this weekend are in Columbia and Gainesville, though. Let’s take a look at what you’ll need to watch across the SEC this weekend.

    Program guide: The SEC has cemented its reputation as an elite conference, and this game is no disappointment. Both teams have very difficult schedules remaining, but this game will go a long way toward determining the SEC East champion.     Northern Illinois adds Arkansas to 2014 Football Schedule

    Donald W. Reynolds Razorback StadiumThe Northern Illinois Huskies have added the Arkansas Razorbacks to their 2014 football schedule, NIU Associate Vice-President and Director of Athletics Jeff Compher announced Wednesday.

    NIU will travel to face Arkansas at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville on Sept. 20, 2014. In their only previous meeting, Arkansas defeated Northern Illinois 30-27 in Fayetteville in 1994.

    “It’s always good to play elite schools from other conferences,” Compher said. “This is a place we haven’t been to for quite some time and provides a great opportunity to showcase our program in an SEC venue.” Read Full Story »

    ULM adds LSU to 2014 Football Schedule

    Tiger StadiumULM has added LSU to their 2014 football schedule, the Warhawks announced today.

    ULM will travel to face LSU at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge on Sept. 6, 2014. The game will be only the third ever meeting between the two schools, which are separated by about 187 miles.

    The Tigers lead the overall series 2-0 after a 49-7 win in 2003 and 51-0 in 2010. Both games were played in Baton Rouge. Read Full Story »

    BCS Conferences announce Oct. 13, 2012 TV Schedule

    Geno SmithThe six BCS conferences have each announced their football TV schedule for the weekend of October 13, 2012.

    Top match-ups include Alabama at Missouri, Oklahoma vs. Texas (at Dallas, TX), South Carolina at LSU, West Virginia at Texas Tech, USC at Washington, TCU at Baylor, and Texas A&M vs. Louisiana Tech (at Shreveport, LA).

    LSU, TCU to open 2013 season in Cowboys Classic

    Cowboys StadiumLSU and TCU will face off in the 2013 Cowboys Classic at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, both schools announced this afternoon. The game will be played on Saturday, Aug. 31 and will be televised by ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.

    The season-opener next season will be the ninth meeting between LSU and TCU. LSU leads the overall series 5-2-1, but the two schools haven’t played since 1968.

    As part of the game contract, LSU and TCU will play this game only and will not complete the home-and-home series they initially agreed to back in 2006. Read Full Story »

    SEC announces Football TV Schedule for Oct. 6 Games

    SECThe SEC has announced the football TV schedule for games on Saturday, Oct. 6. The CBS Game of the Week will feature LSU at Florida at 3:30 p.m. ET.

    A huge game in the SEC East between Georgia and South Carolina kicks off at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. Georgia is currently ranked 5th in both polls while South Carolina in ranked 6th. Read Full Story »

    SEC announces Football TV Schedule for Sept. 29 Games

    SECThe SEC has announced the football TV schedule for games on Saturday, Sept. 29. The CBS Game of the Week will feature Georgia hosting Tennessee at 3:30 p.m. ET.

    Missouri will kick off the action at noon eastern on FSN when they travel to face the UCF Knights. Alabama, the current no. 1 team in the country, will host Ole Miss at 9:15 p.m. ET on either ESPN or ESPN2. Read Full Story »

    Report: LSU, TCU to open at Cowboys Stadium in 2013

    Cowboys StadiumLSU and TCU have agreed in principle to open the 2013 season at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the Star-Telegram has reported.

    The 2013 edition of the “Cowboys Classic” will likely be played in prime time on Aug. 31, 2013 and televised on an ESPN network. LSU is 5-2-1 overall against TCU, but the two schools haven’t played since 1968.

    As part of the game contract, LSU and TCU will play this game only and will not complete the home-and-home series they initially agreed to back in 2006. LSU was set to host TCU on Sept. 7, 2013 and then travel to face the Horned Frogs on Sept. 6, 2014. Read Full Story »

    SEC announces Football TV Schedule for Sept. 22 Games

    SECThe SEC has announced the football TV schedule for games on Saturday, Sept. 22. Overall ten SEC games are scheduled for television with two on pay-per-view.

    Ole Miss at Tulane will kick off the days action at noon eastern on FSN. The featured game of the day will be Missouri at South Carolina. That game is slated for 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS. Read Full Story »

    Kentucky-Louisville Football Series dates set through 2016

    Kentucky-LouisvilleDates for the Kentucky-Louisville football series have been set through 2016, according to the contract obtained by the Courier-Journal.

    Kentucky and Louisville signed a new six-year deal in January 2011, which made their Sept. 17, 2011 game the first game of the contract. Louisville won that game 24-17 in Lexington.

    The second game of the contract was played last Sunday at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium and Louisville defeated Kentucky 32-14. Read Full Story »

    Alabama adds Western Carolina to 2014 Football Schedule

    Alabama Crimson TideThe Alabama Crimson Tide have added a game against Western Carolina to their 2014 football schedule, according to documents obtained by The Tuscaloosa News.

    Alabama will host Western Carolina at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Nov. 22, 2014. The contest is part of a two-game contract which also has the Catamounts visiting Tuscaloosa this season (Nov. 17). Read Full Story »

    Arkansas, Texas A&M to meet at Cowboys Stadium from 2014 through 2024

    Southwest ClassicArkansas and Texas A&M have agreed to resume their long-term football series at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington beginning in 2014 and extending through the 2024 season.

    The two schools first played at Cowboys Stadium in 2009 in a series that was dubbed the “Southwest Classic.” The Razorbacks won all three games: 47-19 (2009), 24-17 (2010), and 42-38 (2011).

    When Texas A&M announced that they were joining the SEC, the neutral site contest was put on hold. For the next two years, the game will be played at campus sites. Read Full Story »

    Louisiana Tech vs. Texas A&M moved to October 13

    Independence StadiumHurricane Isaac has forced the postponement of another 2012 college football game. Louisiana Tech and Texas A&M have moved their Thursday night match-up to Saturday, Oct. 13.

    No other changes to Louisiana Tech or Texas A&M’s schedule was necessary since both schools were set to be off on Oct. 13.

    “Our primary concern was for the health and safety of the general public, students and fans of both institutions,” Tech athletic director Bruce Van De Velde said. Read Full Story »
