    Auburn Tigers to host Idaho Vandals in 2015

    SpiritThe Auburn Tigers will host the Idaho Vandals in 2015, according to documents obtained by the Idaho Statesman in April.

    Auburn will host Idaho at Jordan-Hare Stadium on September 19, 2015. The game will be only the second meeting between the two schools.

    The Vandals made their first and only trip to Auburn on Sept. 11, 1999 and almost stole a win from the Tigers. Read Full Story »

    Missouri and Texas A&M officially join the SEC today

    Today the Missouri Tigers and the Texas A&M Aggies have officially joined the SEC. The conference now has 14 members and has expanded for the first time since 1992.

    Missouri will compete in the East Division along with Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt. Their first game of the 2012 season is on September 1 at home against Southeastern Louisiana and their first SEC game is September 8 vs. Georgia. Read Full Story »

    Southern Miss to play at Arkansas in 2013

    Southern Miss Golden EaglesThe Southern Miss Golden Eagles will play at the Arkansas Razorbacks in 2013, USM announced today.

    Southern Miss will travel to face Arkansas at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville on Sept. 14, 2013. The contract is for one game and it will be the highest payout ever received for USM. Read Full Story »

    SEC to add Independence Bowl for 2012 and 2013 Seasons

    AdvoCare V100 Independence BowlThe SEC is set to add the AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl as a tie-in for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. The official announcement, which could come as early as today, would give the SEC a record 10 bowl tie-ins.

    The SEC would replace the Mountain West, which opted to take a spot in the Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas. The MWC made that move after BYU signed agreements to play in the 2012 Poinsettia Bowl and the 2013 Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl. Read Full Story »

    Big Ten presidents prefer ‘status quo’ over four-team college football playoff

    Big TenIn a conference call this morning, the Big Ten Conference announced that their presidents prefer the “status quo” over a four-team college football playoff.

    “If the Big Ten presidents were to vote today, we would vote for the status quo,” Nebraska chancellor Harvey Perlman said on the conference call. “We think it best serves college football. We think it best protects our student-athletes. I don’t think any of us are anxious … to ask our student-athletes to play a 15th game.” Read Full Story »

    SEC approves 6-1-1 Football Schedule Format, sets Cross-Division Rivals

    SECThe SEC has approved the 6-1-1 football schedule format for the foreseeable future, Florida athletics director Jeremy Foley announced today.

    SEC presidents and athletics directors have been debating the future football schedule format this week at their Spring meetings in Destin, Florida.

    The 6-1-1 format means that each SEC team will play six inter-division games, one permanent cross-division game, and one rotating cross-division game. That’s an 8-game SEC schedule, which the conference has played since splitting into divisions in 1992. Read Full Story »

    Ohio State, Georgia cancel 2020-21 Home-and-home Football Series

    Georgia-Ohio StateOhio State and Georgia have canceled their 2020-21 home-and-home football series, FBSchedules.com has learned through documents obtained from UGA.

    The Buckeyes and Bulldogs signed a memorandum of understanding to play the two game series back in December 2010. But the two schools were unable to come up with dates for the games which has resulted in their cancellation. Read Full Story »

    SEC to discuss future football schedule format at Spring meetings

    SECThe 2012 SEC Spring meetings begin today at the Sandestin Hilton in Destin, Florida One of the topics this week will be the future schedule format for football.

    Over the weekend, SEC schedule guru and consultant Larry Templeton indicated that the conference will likely go with the 6-1-1 format. This format means each team plays six divisional games, one permanent cross-division opponent and one rotating cross-division team. Read Full Story »

    SEC, Big 12 Champions to meet in New Year’s Day Bowl Game

    Big-12, SEC create bowl gameThe SEC and the Big 12 have announced a partnership that will pit their conference champions against each other in a New Year’s Day bowl game.

    The agreement between the two conferences is for five years and begins following the 2014 football season (Jan. 1, 2015). The host site, TV partner and name of the bowl game will be announced at a later date. For now, the game has the working title “Champions Bowl.” Read Full Story »

    Alabama to face West Virginia in 2014 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game

    Chick-fil-A Kickoff GameThe Alabama Crimson Tide will face the West Virginia Mountaineers in the second game of the 2014 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, Chick-fil-A officials announced this afternoon.

    Alabama and West Virginia will meet at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2014. The game will be the first ever meeting between the two schools.

    Arkansas State to play at Auburn in 2013

    Arkansas State at Auburn (2010)The Arkansas State Red Wolves will play at the Auburn Tigers in 2013, ASU announced today.

    Arkansas State will travel to Jordan Hare Stadium on Sept. 7, 2013. It will be the third meeting between these two schools in the last seven years. Auburn leads the series 2-0 after wins in 2006 (27-0) and 2010 (52-26).

    Auburn will pay ASU $1.1 million for the game, which is the largest payment ever received by the Red Wolves. Read Full Story »

    Arkansas-Texas A&M on campus 2012-13; could return to Arlington in 2014

    Arkansas-Texas A&MThe Arkansas-Texas A&M series is now officially set for campus sites in 2012 and 2013 and could return to Cowboys Stadium in Arlington in 2014.

    The two schools will meet at Kyle Field in College Station on Sept. 29, 2012 and at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville on Sept. 28, 2013.

    Arkansas and Texas A&M first played at Cowboys Stadium in 2009 in a series that was dubbed the “Southwest Classic.”  Read Full Story »

    LSU at Arkansas set for Friday, Nov. 23 on CBS

    Tyrann Mathieu (7)The 2012 LSU at Arkansas football game has been set for Friday, Nov. 23 in Fayetteville, CBS and the SEC announced today. The game will kickoff at 2:30 p.m. ET and will be televised by CBS.

    This years game will be only the second time that the two schools have met in Fayetteville. The only other time was back in 1992, Arkansas’ first year in the SEC. The Razorbacks defeated the Tigers 30-6. Read Full Story »
