The BYU Cougars have announced that they will leave the Mountain West for the 2011-12 season and become an independent in football, while joining the WCC for other sports.
BYU originally scheduled to go to the WAC for everything expect football, but canceled those plans when the Mountain West took Nevada and Fresno State.

The Utah State Aggies announced that they have signed a four-game home-and-home series with the Wyoming Cowboys.

After news came that BYU was planning to become an independent in football and join the WAC for all other sports, the Mountain West made a move by inviting WAC members Fresno State and Nevada to join in 2011.
Fresno State will have to pay a $5 million buyout to the WAC for leaving, under the terms reached after Boise State planned to leave.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will play at Ole Miss in 2011 and at Illinois in 2012, the school announced on Wednesday.
Tech will travel to face Ole Miss on November 12, 2011, which is the date vacated by the move of Boise State to the Mountain West.

The Big 12, Mountain West and WAC future football schedules have been updated. Updates reflect the recent conference changes by Boise State, Colorado, Nebraska and Utah.
Boise State is heading to the Mountain West in July of 2011. From 2011 forward, their WAC opponents have been removed from their schedules, and Boise State has been removed from all of the WAC future schedules. The Broncos won’t be added to any Mountain West schedules until the conference announces their new scheduling format.

The Mountain West Conference announced today that the Boise State Broncos have joined the MWC effective July 1, 2011.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs of the WAC have scheduled a 2015-2016 home-and-home football series with UTSA. They will also face the Arkansas Razorbacks of the SEC in 2016.
Louisiana Tech will host UTSA in Ruston on September 26, 2015. The Bulldogs will travel to face the Roadrunners at the Alamodome in San Antonio on September 24, 2016. The 2015 game will be the first meeting between the two schools.
