Thank You Ole Miss and FSU! I get 3 years without seeing ULM visit the Plains of Auburn. Whew…..

Appears the 2017 schedule is complete except for a small number of FBS programs still need to announce a FCS opponent.

Florida St, Miami FL, Syracuse, TCU
AF, UNLV, FIU, Ball St, Western Mich, NIU, Coastal Carolina

P5 programs who have not scheduled a P5 OOC opponent for 2017:
Miss St, Utah, Wisconsin (each has a game vs BYU)
      Arizona, WSU, Colorado
      Illinois, Kansas

On to 2018, where New Mexico State will have a difficult time filling its home schedule.

Great to see SEC schools scheduling home and home series with schools like Memphis!

I’d rather see SEC schools playing some Power 5 schools and not Sunbelt and FCS cupcakes.

@Ryan Okay, you got 2 things wrong here. 1, memphis is in the american, which, by the way, has two teams that beat nat’l championship contenders. And 2. The AAC is in the FBS division. Next time you try to insult memphis, look them up first, dumbass.

One Ping to Memphis adds football series vs. Mississippi State, ULM and UTSA

Any USM fans – Is it right that BYU-USM is dead? Thanks.

I don’t know about BYU but USM has been dead for a few years.

It’s tough for So Miss to compete when the star players want to attend a Power 5 Conference school. If So Miss say was to get an invite to the Big 12 the program would change quickly. It takes money, political connections and some luck, all of which So Miss lacks. That pipe dream will never happen, I support my alma mater with a check every year, truth is they should drop the program, until every division 1 program has a legitimate shot at being a national champion what’s the point. The Power 5 are greedy institutions who want it all, unless your a member your really nothing. Basketball can do it, football could also. #SouthernMississippiUSM

USM’s only hope is to get an invite to the AAC when the Big 12 adds one or two AAC teams.

If the NCAA wants to continue to let the so called Power 5 conferences run college football (letting the tail wag the dog) I have suggested for years that all other conferences break away from what we know as the NCAA. Start a new association similar to the NCAA, playing only the members in the new association, and playing for this associations national championship. The so called Power 5 seem to think that the so called mid major schools can’t survive without them. Which in reality they can’t afford not to have the so called mid majors on their schdule. Unless they replace the mid majors with the lower half of each so called Power 5 schools. Of which in “MOST” cases the lower half of each so called Power 5 schools bring nothing to the table. Basically have a free ride to enjoy the finical success provides by the upper half our their conference. There are a few exception, but very few such as Kentucky.

Most so called mid major schools, such as Southern Miss can play week in and week out with the lower half of every so called Power 5 conference. And the Southern Miss of old can play with the upper half of the so called Power 5. Not to worry, Southern Miss is well on its way back to this point!!!

Not to slam the other two Division 1 schools within the state of Misissippi, but if they had to meet today’s requirements that the so called Power 5 are looking for such as location, location, location I just don’t see how they would ever get into the SEC. The most perfect located university within the state is by far Southern Miss. And our administration has got to figure out how to get this across to the NCAA and more importantly by able to claim our TRUE tv market!!!

Sorry for the length of commit, but I have been holding this for a long time!!!

Thanks for scheduling ULM. That will be at least one season Auburn does not play them. I hate seeing them on the Tigers schedule year after year

No SEC School should be playing FCS schools. Its slap in the face to all college football fans and stealing from the paying customers. Its the equivalent of NFL team scheduling a preseason game during the regular season.

agree but since they already 9 Power 5 opponents it will have to happen from time to time. I would rather see the Aggies play PararieView and Auburn play Alabama State since they are in state schools

The PVAMU game is not only a good payday, but it will be great exposure for our Program.

fflnick — completely disagree. The SEC is a tough slate as it is. The physical toll that the teams take during conference place commands that they have at least one or two patsies. They earn it.

        September 9, 2015 at 11:32 pm

Jay- Its an insult to all objective college football fans who pay for tickets. Times are a changing. Rewards for schedule manipulation are falling to the wayside. Its about quality wins and terrible losses. The only benefit for teams to play FCS schools is bowl qualification. If team loses to FCS, its crushing. If OKL and/or TEN play well both will benefit greatly by this weekends game. MICH ST, ORE same thing. Teams in other conferences are willing to play quality schools. Any perceived conference advantage is nullified when others are beefing up their schedule. Playoff is breath of fresh air where opinions are marginalized in propping up fake championship contenders. You got to earn it on the field now.

why did Idaho ever get an invite to this conference? they add nothing, are an expensive plane ride away to play in a cavernous air plane hanger in front of a paltry crowd of just a few thousand. they lose 8-11 games with regularity. Their basketball team this years averages 900 fans per home game-less than any decent high school.

Remember they’re a football-only team in the Sun Belt. They’re in the Big sky for all other sports

Dennis Dodd is saying 2015 is Idaho’s last year in FBS.

It looks like the Vandals don’t have the votes to stay in the Belt (need 7 of the 9 permanent FB members) because it doesn’t make sense to anybody in the Belt. Rob Spear went around pleading for the Big Sky to move up schools two weeks ago, but nobody was biting – I think he knew he needed some company to stay in FBS. So expect Spear to jump in front of the parade and announce they are moving to the Big Sky for Football before they can be dumped next January/February.

So you may get your wish.
