I’d like this football in a baseball stadium fad to die ASAP
Nope & they’re just growing stronger, pretty smart move actually.
It would be great if they can draw 20-25,000 fans to this…..
Should be easy to get tickets.
Too bad the Chicago sports media has not recognized what NIU has done over the past 8 years. NIU basketball team is going for 20 wins yet no words from the media folks.
NIU would do well to schedule an annual game in Chicago. If NIU can establish a strong Chicagoland presence and TV ratings, they become a legitimate candidate for AAC membership.
The 2020 NIU-BYU game would be a good candidate for a Chicago game.

I love how Wellman bought five “buy games” and then made this statement:
“The financial guarantees that non-conference opponents are receiving today for ‘buy games’ have doubled and tripled from just a few years ago. Therefore, it is more realistic to play a home- and- away series against quality opponents than to ‘buy’ one-time games.”
Air Force and NIU are return trips from deals in the late 90’s early 00’s where those schools have pushed back as far as they could. Glad they’re finally confirmed.
Agreed on Air Force but I think the WFU-NIU 2001-2002 home and home was complete.
It is a good thing they at least played in 1 Orange Bowl (2006), because the above scheduling is a joke. So the only team they are playing from a P5 conference in the next 11 years is Vanderbilt. This is why ACC Football is a joke.
Wake also has the following previously announced games from 2017 on:
– Notre Dame in 2017, 2018, 2020, and 2023.
– UNC in non-conference games in 2019 and 2021.
– Ole Miss in 2024 and 2025.
– Purdue in 2026 and 2027.
Having a conference opponent as a non-conference game is a joke to me. I’m willing to bet both UNC and Wake Forest won’t be competing for a title when they play. The ACC is losing creditability for letting that happen.
For a top academic institution like Wake this is a very good schedule … Its exactly who they should be playing … Nice job … And Coach Clawson is going to have the Deacs playing good in a couple of years … I see a bunch of bowl seasons here … Nice scheduling !!!
East Carolina … nuff said …
It’s been way too long since ECU/WFU played. I’m with you.
Also, note the ACC is not counting Army as P5… unlike the lolSEC which counts them.
Haha, You’re so funny… not. Are there actually any SEC teams that have Army on their future schedules???
Actually what “StrickDeac” wrote is wrong, at least as it concerns NIU. It was not NIU pushing the game back but rather a very scared Wake Forest team.
Wake was hoping to “ride out the wave” on NIU’s “run” but it turns out that NIU isn’t going anywhere and is in fact only getting stronger the longer they wait. So they finally decided to “bite the bullet” and take their beating like men.
KUDOS to you, Deacons.
ACC Football is a joke I mean why in the he’ll would you schedule a team in your conference as a non conference game! And furthermore, not only Wake but all the ACC schools did a sorry job of scheduling in the future if they want to overpower the other P5 schools! The ACC should just stick to the sport they are good at and that’s Basketball not Football!
some people are sick
The MAC finally figured out not to have teams travel to UMass on a short week. Of course, this is UMass’s last year in the MAC, so it’s too little too late.
can you just post who bowling green will play in mac titlle game on dec.4th????????
Four teams are still in it, won’t be known until after they play: Northern Illinois, Toledo, Central Michigan, and Western Michigan.
All Power5 programs have completed their 2015 schedules (although BC is awaiting to hear if NM St cancels their game).
Numerous Group of Five programs are scrapping to fill their 2015 schedules.
Ball St and Western Mich both need OOC games. One of these programs could end up playing South Alabama (after their game with UAB was cancelled). All have 9/19 open.
W Mich could schedule an FCS program, but not many FCS programs with dates open, and it will cost a bunch to attract a home game. If UCF does not opt to play an FCS program, could hook up with W Mich (both with 9/19 open).
With 2 or 3 games yet to schedule San Diego State needs to get on the ball. Maybe the Aztecs are hoping NM St will cancel the 9/19 UTEP game, and then SD St could schedule the Miners?
Geo St and FIU could hook up (both have 9/12 and 9/26 open).
Then SMU, Louis Tech, ULL and Texas St each still need one game.
Some FCS programs not yet matched up with a FBS opponent: Montana St, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Alabama St, Prairie View A&M, Texas Southern, South Carolina St
(unknown if they are actually looking for FBS opponents as their schedules have not been publicly announced).
Air Force needs a game. Possibility AF could hook up with Montana St?
And San Diego St, Air Force, Fresno St and San Jose St can opt to schedule an additional game via their ‘Hawaii exemptions’.
Sidenote: The Tarheels have scheduled games against two FCS opponents (NC A&T and Delaware). Why?
WMU vs. UCF would actually be a pretty good matchup – 2015 @ UCF, 2018 @ WMU
WMU plays Georgia Southern, Michigan St and Ohio State in 2015. I assure u that their 4th non-conf game will be against an FCS school. Maybe a junior college
Congrats NIU!!! Redemption this year for the title!!
5 straight appearances by NIU is pretty impressive
Go Falcon !! Ka ka
Let’s go Falcons
