They’ll win the home games and get blown out in the road games.
The home game against Arkansas State will not be easy. Ark. State is a solid mid-major program
SDSU still doesn’t have 12 games on their 2015 schedule? What is going on there….
Still looking for game, will likely be FCS
San Diego State is the last FBS program still working to complete their 2015 schedule. Why are the Aztecs having such an issue? Multiple FCS programs would love a guarantee game and are open to playing two or three FBS programs in a season.
Or is San Diego State having funding issues and cannot afford to pay for a guarantee game?
Why isn’t the final week: Fres St @ SJSU, CSU@ Wyo, AF @ UNM, Nev @ SDSU, BSU@ UNLV. They should have BSU and Nevada play every year because that’s a longtime rivalry, probably bigger for Nevada than UNLV.
The MWC has 22 games scheduled against Power 5 teams in 2015. In 2013 they were 1-20; last year they picked up 3 wins beating Colorado, Wake Forest and Washington State. Can they win 5 this season-or would that be asking too much?
I agree it should be rivalries, but the pairings should be:
Air Force-New Mexico
Utah St.-Boise St.
Fresno St.-San Jose St.
Hawaii-San Diego St.
It also keeps it in division.
It probably would be that but USU and Hawaii are playing non conference games that weekend, so it messes things up.
The MWC let BYU get USU for the final week 2015 and 2016 in exchange for BYU letting USU out of a 2 for 1 deal. No hassle for the MWC, Hawaii appears to have been granted the right to schedule non-conference the closing week.
Rivalries are good, AF vs CSU is Good but the big Rivalries with AF are non conference, Navy & Army. As a person setting in the stadium, a Sat game is my biggest desire & need. Friday & Thursday games are 90% of time unable to attend. I know TV & MWConf wants the money but empty stands are not good. I can’t even give away my Thur games.
I like SJSU’s schedule. We have rivals Fresno State, San Diego State at home, plus BYU and Boise State. These will really help attendance.
But this has problems. SJSU should host SDSU one year, Fresno State the next year to help build consistency in attendance and interest. Also Fresno State and SJSU should be playing the last week or the next to last week every year. Same for Colorado State-Wyoming.
Building rivalries is key. So they should set up last weekend rivalries. They also should allow schools to have one permanent cross rival. Nevada-Boise State is an obvious one.
It would have been better is the MWC divided by “old” and “new” (WAC), as that would have preserved rivalries.
West: Hawaii, Fresno St, San Jose St, Nevada, Utah St, Boise St
Mountain: San Diego St, UNLV, New Mexico, Colorado St, Wyoming, Air Force
You’d probably want SDSU-Hawaii (reduce travel) and UNLV-Nevada as built in cross rivals in that setup.
Whatever. The MWC clearly has not thought much about building rivalries. But I think they are critical to survival at the G5 level, to built interest without a chance at the Playoffs.
San Jose State is going to struggle this year on run defense again..our defensive lineman are once again in the 260-270 range and that ain’t going to get it done. Just hope there is enough balance on offense to keep the defense off the field.
Shame on Tulane. Their out of touch AD continues to even attempt scheduling “names.” He is a cancer.
Western Michigan University fans welcome this addition to our schedule. We played #4 Michigan State and #1 Ohio State this year.
Too bad that our starting QB Zach Terrell would have graduated by then.
Great job USC, meanwhile Trojan fans complain when an SEC school schedule these teams. Hypo critics
Yeah, dude, these game sucks. I’m embarrassed for them. But at least these games also come during the same seasons we play Notre Dame and Alabama, ND and Texas twice, and ND and BYU, in addition to 9 conference games. Meanwhile SEC schools play 8 conference games and maybe 1 good power 5 neutral site game… Nice try.
I was not trying anything, just stating a fact. You luv to complain when an SEC team schedules these games meanwhile USC does it & you have to use an excuse about (least we are playing Bama, ND & Texas). It does not matter who else USC is playing, just making the point before you complain about what the SEC does, look in the mirror 1st. That’s why I say hypo critic. You can not have it both ways, bashing the SEC while your team does the exact same thing, that’s why I continue to say that ALL TEAMS DO IT. Meanwhile you bash Bama for playing neutral site games & now USC is playing Bama, in a neutral site game, imagine that.
Do you not to see how illogical you sound? USC is playing 11 of 12 power 5 games. And the one non Power 5 game they’re playing are against Group of 5 teams. There is no FCS team.
In 2016, let’s compare Alabama’s schedule vs. USC’s schedule.
Alabama plays 8 conference games (4 home, 4 away), 1 neutral site P5 game, 2 home G5 games, 1 home FCS.
USC plays 9 conference games (4 home, 5 away), 1 neutral site P5 game, 1 home P5 game, 1 home G5 game, 0 FCS.
Comparing Alabama’s schedule to USC’s is a joke. USC has 1 more away game, 2 more P5 games, 0 FCS… USC easily has the hardest schedule in the country. For a team like 2015-16 national champions Alabama not to play a schedule like that is a joke.
How can you not see that?
I was not comparing the scheduling, all conferences are not created equal, we have a difference of opinion, that’s all. It does not bother me that Bama plays in a 8 game conference or that Bama plays 1 FCS & 2 smaller schools.2016 Bama starts with USC & as much as you would like to call them (cupcakes) W.Kentucky just won Con.USA championship & went 12-2, Chattanooga lost in the playoffs in FCS, Kent St is the only team I can not speak for but they are as equal as Utah St is. Just like USC it is extremely hard to get through the season just losing one game or playing for an SEC championship or even a national champion, I understand you think the SEC is a joke but that is your opinion nor will I try to change it but just because you play a in a 9 game conference does not make it harder on you. Good luck to your Trojans next year.
The fact I’m telling you is because the Pac 12 plays 9 games, they will have 6 more losses guaranteed.
Because of that, it makes the conference look weaker than it really is.
If the SEC played 9 games, they would have 7 more losses guaranteed. So instead of playing that, they play a weak Group of 5 team at home. It’s false advertising.
Do you see where I’m coming from?
