From a Bama fan: congrats Clemson! You guys played great, and you certainly deserve your prize. You did the one thing you needed to do to win the game: make Jalen Hurts feel pressured. These last two nattys are by far the best i’ve seen. good luck to you guys next season!

Thank You Bama Fan. The greatest honor of the Tigers in winning the National Championship was we beat the ‘absolute best’. The very word “Alabama” rings of the best in College Football. We were so honored to have finally beat your truly great team. I humbly suggest we have a rubber match next year, and, good luck to you guys. We all look forward to your first game with Florida State. Beatum!!!!!

Congrats to Clemson & the ACC this year. Outstanding 2nd half, I actually had Clemson winning 31-28 in OT. The match up with Waston vs Hurts seem to be the upper hand & even though Hurts ran in the last Bama TD, it left way to much time on the clock for Waston & his receivers to work their magic.

David: Please Clemson has just recruited the best high school Quarterback in the Nation in Hunter Johnson, plus a High school junior, Trevor Lawrence from Cartersville Ga has already committed to Clemson. I think we will be AOK. Not to fret about Clemson. Another fact is,our three greatest Coaches: Frank Howard, Danny Ford and of course DABO learned there trade at and from Alabama. We have truly learned from you guys how to win “and keep winning”. We not going anywhere!

It’s interesting that right after the victory by Bama last year between these two teams, ESPN was already talking about a rematch for 2016 for the championship again between Bama vs Clemson & they were right. Once again you have ACC vs SEC & the same teams in it back to back years, that is pretty remarkable.
Washington did all they could but seriously no one gave them a chance to win, clearly see why. Bama plays their best against the best.
Can’t believe The Ohio State laid an egg & got shutout, 1st time in 15 years & 194 games under Urban Myer.
My hat goes off to the Buckeyes & Huskies, they had great seasons.
I’m honestly not sure who will win this game, Bama dominated all year with a couple of struggles with Ole Miss & LSU. Clemson seem to struggle most of the year but look crazy good now.
Clemson is 2-0 vs SEC & Bama is 2-0 vs Pac-12 this year.
Not sure if ESPN is happy about this, being that you have two east schools playing in Tampa, I know last year the ratings were not all that hot.
I know that Bama is the most hated team in America right now & people wish them to go away or get beat for a change, I don’t. Roll Tide & Go SEC!

      January 2, 2017 at 1:10 am

Bama is -7 right now, but I am not so sure.

They had multiple possessions starting at their 40+ or better and still only finished with 17 offensive points. Did Washington’s D really play that well, or was Kiffin distracted? Without JK Scott flipping the field every possession this game is different, even with Washington’s anemic offense.

Bama’s D is obviously the best in the country bar none, but can it hold Deshaun Watson and Clemson’s O to 17 points or less if they cannot count on the O to score? Clemson’s D is better than UDub’s.

Lots of intriguing angles to this game. Hopefully it’ll be a good one.

      Ray,

The depth and scope of your analysis is quiet profound and is why SEC fans get trolled on every website with their, “SEC! SEC! SEC!”.

      The SEC went a whopping……

      5-6 in Bowl games.

Sorry, College Football Playoff Games are Not Bowl Games.

The, “SEC! SEC! SEC!” went a whopping…..

6-9 in OOC games vs. P5 opponents during the regular season.

Come back when you have something interesting to say about the game; player match ups, coaching changes, philosophies, etc.

Your SEC chant has gotten old, tired and considering the record this season outside of the, “SEC! SEC! SEC!” quite pathetic.

The Big Ten is 0-2 in the last two seasons in the College Football Playoff, losing by a combined 69-0.

How about we stop inviting teams from the Big Ten to the CFP until they prove they are actually worthy? Winning the Big Ten anymore is meaningless.

      • JackStriker
        January 5, 2017 at 7:49 am

Besides ‘Bama no one else in the SEC is worthy, either.

Love watching 8-4 teams like Auburn get their teeth smashed in a New Year’s Six game when they have a whopping 5 P5 wins, with triumphs over Alabama A&M, University of Louisiana Monroe and Arkansas State to pad their record.

Combining Bowl records and Regular Season OOC games the SEC is 11-16 against P5 opponents. Well, 10-16. That Mississippi State 17-16 triumph over a 6-6 MAC team with a blocked field goal in the final seconds actually counts as a bowl win……

Go back to Step-Sister Pole Dancing Competitions, Billy Bob Joe.

        January 6, 2017 at 8:41 am

        Please.

The SEC is best conference in the nation over the last dozen years. They’ve dominated the sport like no other conference ever has. The SEC routinely wins more bowl games than they lose, they have made it a habit of winning the national title, since 2003 there are THREE SEC teams that have won more national titles individually than other conferences have combined. It’s not even close.

The Big Ten has lost five or more bowl games each of the last seven years. They’ve only won more bowl games than they lost twice in the time the SEC has dominated the college football landscape. And they have capped that horrible performance by going two years without scoring a single point in the CFP.

Dominance is never established in a weekend or a season… it’s established over a decade. And the SEC has established dominance over the rest of the college football world.

But then again, you must not know what the words “best” and “dominant” mean.

Losing Regular Season vs P5 opponents.

      Losing Bowl Record.

There is no shame in Alabama losing that game. Well played game by both sides and it was a joy to watch. Going into bowl season I thought the B10 was the best conference this year. I was wrong. Combining the ACC’s P5 record, their bowl record and the fact that the champion played in their conference; the ACC was clearly the best conference this year. If you are one who still feels the SEC was the best conference this year, well then you are simply delusional.

MTSU has beaten Vandy and Georgia Tech in past years… they’re not chump change. Credit to them stepping up to a schedule befitting a Big XII team! Heh.

If every team in the BigXII played in the SECLeast and scheduled an FCS and two low tier Sun belt or MAC teams they would all be 8-4, 7-5, too.

THere is no truth to this comment, just ask the teams below from the Big-12.
        Kansas lost to Ohio
        Iowa St lost to N.Iowa
Oklahoma St lost to C. Michigan

Only two SEC East teams played Mac this year, Mizz had E.Michigan which is going bowling & Tenn had Ohio which had a great game in the Mac Championship against W.Mich.

        Jackstriker,

The only reason I bring up the SEC is because people like you ( & your alternate personalities) are always bashing them, once again you had to make some bone-ass remark calling the SEC (SECLeast).
The truth is, you only use stats & records when its applies to you & negative about the SEC.
I am not sure how many times & on multiple articles you had to post the SEC OOC record this year to make sure that all saw it, what a shame. True fan……lmao, you’re just a complainer.

        Double-Wide Day,

I use stats and previous, current or future schedules to illustrate my points. always, except for the first post because now it is fun to get a rise out of SEC Trailer Trash boys. You just don’t like it when it does not fit your narrative.

So that is why you started with the insults about, “If the SEC was easy, it would be called your mom.”

This is why now I am going to bash you at every opportunity because it takes no effort and stats and records don’t lie.

        You lie!
Show me one post that says I said anything about your mom, I am not a name caller nor do I even talk like that.
You have me confused with someone else & on that note I am done replying to your childish insults, name calling & add-ons that you try to make yourself sound funny. Next time before you blame someone for talking about your mom, GET THE PERSON RIGHT!

As a Georgia fan, the 2018 schedule is disappointing. Middle Tennessee is a respectable G5 opponent and the budget dictates 2 guarantee games per year at home, but UMass and Murray State are terrible games. Georgia plays two P5 OOC games most years (GT every year, Clemson in 2013 and 14, UNC in 16, Notre Dame in 17 and 19), but very disappointed about 2018 – I had hoped the last slot would be a quality nuetral site game.

Georgia could be in real trouble if UMass decides to drop back to FCS.

      • David
        December 22, 2016 at 6:01 pm

UMass will absolutely still be FBS in 2018. They have 11 games with FBS competition already scheduled. They’ve done their best to fill a schedule, and can pick up a 12th with any regional FCS team. 2019 might get tougher, but they already have 6 FBS contracted, and a game with FCS Maine. What saves them is (1) Bob Kraft likes having UMass games bring folks to Gillette, and then shop at Patriot Place, (2) they have a decent basketball program, and (3) they have the best college marching band in the northeastern US. Clearly, they are hoping the G5’s get raided, because they’d be a great fit in the American to replace schools lost.

      • Rob W
        December 22, 2016 at 8:13 pm

David – good information. My original post was too negative about UMass. It’s really the combination of 2 G5 games plus an FCS game that I don’t like on Georgia’s schedule. UMass would be a good fit in the American, which could use another strong basketball program. I do think it is very difficult to stay independent in the long run these days.

      • JackStriker
        December 22, 2016 at 11:09 pm

I really like the fact that Georgia usually plays 2 P5 OOC’s each year. One of the very few teams in ANY conference that do that.

MTSU can take any P5 school. They gave Alabama a scare both times they played them as well.

      Idaho
      Troy
      Hawaii

        Yep,
That USC team gets to play close to home again, may be that “special Trojan fan” can stop complaining about SEC teams playing in bowls close to home. I luv it when they compare the miles to the stadium from both campuses. Should be an easy win for the Trojans then, I guess. Like last year…….ohh wait.
