The Alabama Crimson Tide and Michigan Wolverines will open the 2012 football season at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, MGoBlog is reporting. The game is likely to be played on September 1, 2012.

Cowboys Stadium will play host to the Oregon State-TCU game on September 4, 2010 and a possible LSU-Oregon matchup to open the 2011 season. The stadium is also the site of the “Southwest Classic”, a 10-game series between Arkansas & Texas A&M.

Alabama is currently slated to host Western Kentucky on September 1, 2012, so it is likely that the game will be moved. Michigan’s non-conference schedule is open against for a Sept. 22 game at Notre Dame.

The Crimson Tide and the Wolverines have met three times, all in postseason bowl games. Michigan leads the overall series 2-1. Listed below is the series history:

  • 1988 – Michigan 28, Alabama 24 (Hall of Fame Bowl)
  • 1997 – Alabama 17, Michigan 14 (Outback Bowl)
  • 2000 – Michigan 35, Alabama 34 (Orange Bowl)

That would be the National Champion Alabama Crimson Tide……#14 baby!

We have no problem with the SEC; but this game scares me. Michigan already has the number 1 “2012 Recruiting Class” – mostly on defense. Some of the unsigned 5 Stars will be looking close at the Wolverines and Coach Mattison. We could be 0-1 for the first time in years!

Don’t worry about recruiting rankings. Michigan isn’t going to win with it’s freshman. Tide will roll.

Please. Quit being so confident ALA fans. No wonder nobody likes the SECheat.

Winning do have a way of causing one to be pretty confident……………Michigan will rue the day they scheduled us.

Is this the same Michigan team that Mississippi State embarrassed a few New Years Days ago?
