Georgia State to visit Alabama in 2013, Oregon in 2015

Georgia State PanthersGeorgia State has added two more games to their future football schedules, the school announced this afternoon. The Panthers will travel to Alabama in 2013 and Oregon in 2015.

Alabama will welcome Georgia State to Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa on Oct. 5, 2013. The Crimson Tide will pay the Panthers a $700,000 guarantee.

The game will be the second meeting between the two schools. GSU played at Alabama in their inaugural season back in 2010 and fell to the Tide 63-7.

GSU is the third game scheduled for Alabama in 2013. The Crimson Tide open the season on Aug. 31 against Virginia Tech in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in Atlanta. Bama later hosts Chattanooga of the FCS on Nov. 23.

Georgia State also announced on Wednesday that they will travel to Eugene to face the Oregon Ducks in 2015. An exact date for that game is to be announced (update: it’s Sept. 19).

The game against the Panthers completes Oregon’s 2015 non-conference schedule. The Ducks open the season at home on Sept. 5 vs. Eastern Washington and then travel to Michigan State on Sept. 12.

Earlier today, it was announced that Georgia State would travel to West Virginia in 2013 and would face Air Force in a home-and-home series in 2014 and 2016.

Georgia State is transitioning to the FBS and will join the Sun Belt Conference on July 1, 2013. They will be eligible for postseason play and the Sun Belt Conference football championship beginning with the 2014 season.

Here is a look at how the Panthers’ future schedules are shaping up:

  • 09/14 – at West Virginia
  • 09/21 – Jacksonville State

Very excited about heading back to Tuscaloosa. These are the kind of games GSU needs to schedule to help with recruiting.

This is awful scheduling….GSU would be better getting deals with MAC/Army for home and away then getting crushed by 50 vs. Alabama

Not sure why they don’t just drive 1 mile to get crushed by GT or 70 miles to UGA.

Kevin, Neither UGA or GT have reached out to Georgia State nor has State reached out to them. I don’t see any reason why UGA or GT would play State right now. They’re the big boys in Georgia and it only helps State to be associated with them. One day… one day…

Who says we didn’t reach out to them? Who says they want to play us?

Ducks have many more surprises in store for all of you non-believers. Look at how the NFL is changing due to the Chip Kelly factor. No huddle spread offense is the biggest change in football since the forward pass. All teams will change or die a slow death. Unless the sissy Nick Saban gets his way . Is this what we want football to be? LOL
Alabama will get there ass kicked!

Alabama is a good team. There is one big problem that I have with them. As I looked at thier past schedules over the past three years. I can not see any of the stresses that are put on the other confrences. That is travel and play! It looks like they never go more than 500 miles to play anyone. And by Goodness when have they played North of the Mason Dixion line or when it is cold out…?? Or west of Dallas Texas…? I am from the PAC 12 we play almost every team in the PAC 12 every year or at least every other year. Yes that means you get hit in the mouth every week. Nick Saban and the sissy’s stay near home.
