Notre Dame to host Temple in 2017

By Kevin Kelley -

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will host the Temple Owls on Sept. 2, 2017, ESPN reported today.

The game was initially scheduled for Sept. 26, 2015, but the game was pushed back so that the Fighting Irish could play the UMass Minutemen on that date.

Notre Dame’s unofficial 2017 schedule includes home games against Arizona State, Michigan State, Navy, Syracuse and now Temple. Road games include Miami (FL), Michigan, Purdue and Stanford.

Temple’s only other scheduled game in 2017 is at Army. The Owls will also play an undetermined Big East schedule. Boise State, Houston, Memphis, San Diego State, SMU and UCF all enter the Big East conference in 2013 with Navy following in 2015.

Temple opens the 2012 season with the Mayor’s Cup against Villanova on Aug. 31. Notre Dame kicks off their 2012 slate at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland against Navy on Sept. 1 (9 a.m. ET, CBS).

So, will ND ever go to Philly? They could play in the Linc. 66,000 seats should be big enough for ND’s “needs”.
