Florida State jumps to sixth in Week 7 college football polls

By Kevin Kelley -

After their 63-0 thrashing of previously unbeaten Maryland, the Florida State Seminoles jumped two spots to sixth in both the Week 7 AP Poll and USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

Florida State jumped over Georgia and Louisville in both polls. The Bulldogs beat Tennessee 34-31 in OT but dropped to 7th, while the Cardinals beat Temple 30-7 and dropped to 8th.

Northwestern suffered the biggest drop in both polls as a result of their 40-30 loss to Ohio State. The Wildcats fell three spots to No. 18 in the Coaches Poll and three spots to No. 19 in the AP Poll.

Arizona State (lost to Notre Dame) fell out of both polls while Ole Miss (lost to Auburn) and Maryland (lost to Florida State) fell out of the AP Poll. The Rebels and Terrapins were not ranked in the Coaches Poll.

Teams entering the polls this week include Northern Illinois (23 AP), Virginia Tech (24 AP, 25 Coaches), and Missouri (25 AP). NIU stayed at No. 23 in the Coaches Poll.

WQW! ALABAMA beat Georgia St/another cream ruff/when do they play someone in the top 25???

Yeah, their schedule is pretty soft through the rest of the season except for LSU. I would love to see a team like Clemson crush them in the final bowl game this year.
